Work and it shall be given?

Having received church information from friends and from our pastor, we were finally able start calling churches to set up meetings. So far I have made twenty-four calls. From those calls, no meetings have yet been established. In fact, I haven’t even been able to speak to any pastors yet.

Just as the reality of the difficult task ahead of us was setting in, I received an unsolicited e-mail from a church that I had never even heard of before. They told me that they were looking to take on a new missionary and wanted to know about our ministry. Obviously, we do not yet know if they will take us on or even if they will have us in for a meeting. But the Lord’s timing was a great reminder that wherever we get meetings, He will be the One who provides for us. Pastor Whitcomb also encouraged us with this fact publicly during last Sunday’s morning worship service.

We had a similar encouragement several weeks ago when we were e-mailing friends asking them for the church information that we are now using. Someone on our list to e-mail but whom we had not yet e-mailed, contacted us to ask how she might contribute. We are working hard to get to Romania. But it will not be our work that gets us there. It will be God’s gracious giving.
